| The Worldwide Resource of
Tangaloa Prime |
Worldwide,
Tangaloa Prime is the largest
single-species wood resource
and is completely outside of any rainforests. Of
major dimensions, the development of this natural
hardwood is both timely and needed.
As the world enters the 21st century, the
existing world wood-deficit, already in
the billions of board feet, will only accelerate.
|
The result can only lead
to the eventual collapse of remaining wood
resources.
Only Tangaloa Prime hardwood is positioned to
reduce that deficit. With Tangaloa, the wood-deficit
situation that threatens to strip the world of
its rainforests and old-growth wood resources in
the next century need no longer occur. |
| The Dimensions of Tangaloa |
The collapse of world markets for
high-fat coconut oil from copra (dried coconut
meat), many years ago, devastated Pacific island
and rim economies dependent on copra revenues.
Copra plantations, many of which were established
in colonial days, were reduced in size or simply
abandoned.
Today, untold billions of old, non-productive
trees, of no intrinsic value, crowd third-world
landscapes.
Environmentally, the raw resource for
Tangaloa hardwood comes purely from an
agricultural environment. It is part of
the natural cycle of operating plantations to cut
old trees that are non-productive, in order to
replant. Abandoned plantations need to be cleared
of old trees to replant new trees for local
resource and important cultural uses. |
It is estimated
that, already, there are enough senile Tangaloa
coco timber trees to mill the board feet
equivalent of over one million rainforest trees.
But just as importantly and perhaps even more so,
the ability to replant guarantees the
sustainability of Tangaloa wood. Hardy and wide-ranging
as a plant, the cultivation of these trees are
expert and established. Indeed, future expansion
of this resource is very much a possibility and a
property that rainforests wood resources cannot
claim.
Measuring this newly discovered resource has
barely begun, but it is evident that the milling
potential for billions of board feet of high-quality
wood already exists. This, of course, does not
include the resource wealth of wood and paper by-products
that remain to be refined or developed. |
